Omen of the Stars | Erin Hunter

Image
This is quite a good series, but can drag on a bit, due to power of three, and the prophecy from that preceding it, so instead of being a regular six book series, it is technically a twelve book series. The main storyline of the series, is following Dovewing, the third cat of the Power of Three prophecy, and Ivypool, her sister, on their adventures, trying to get used to their situations. I have a few problems with this series though. For example the beaver plot is a bit strange, and also Sign of the Moon has little to do with the main plot, as it is in the mountains, but other than this, it's pretty good. How to be a Cat | Kitty Pusskin (Mark Leigh)

Image
This an amusing 'handbook' for cats, that tells you all about living with humans! It is brilliant book, that really carries out what a cat's personality is like, because it actually isn't completely made up and it is funny because cats are really like that. This book is brilliant for cat-lovers as it gives funny tips and tests for cats, such as checking if they overdose on catnip, etc. It would better though to remove all bad language from the book, so that younger children could read it as well, but that might make it less funny, so it doesn't matter too much. 160 Pages 6/10 ABR Rating: C (for info about ABR Ratings, Plea se Visit the  About  Pa ge)

Stanley Smartpants and the Mackerel Robberies | Alexander Martin

Image
This is a great, funny book about cats, living like humans (I would have put a cat pun here, but I cannot think of one). Stanley Smartpants is a cat-detective, who is trying to solve the mackerel robberies, a series of robberies that always have a mackerel at the crime scene. This book is really amusing how it puts a twist on human things, and renames them cattish names, such as 'Catdonalds' or 'The Scissor Cats' or 'Leonardo de Catrio'! Alexander Martin writes these stories in a funny way that everyone can enjoy, and has plenty of awful puns about cats, judges, and police. 289 Pages 7/10 ABR Rating: A (for info about ABR Ratings, Plea se Visit the  About  Page)

J.K Rowling - The Wizard Behind Harry Potter | Marc Shapiro

This is a fantastic inspiring biography of the much loved J.K Rowling. It takes you into detail of Joanne's life, and makes you want to read Harry Potter again. It is a good book that is nice if you want to learn more about the author, and what her inspiration was, etc. This is a really good biography, because it was interesting, and had lots of facts on her life. All Harry Potter fans would enjoy this 127 Pages 6/10 ABR Rating: B (for info about ABR Ratings, Plea se Visit the  About  Page)

Lost in a Book | Jennifer Donnelly

Image
This is a brilliant original story, based on Disney's fantastic movie, Beauty and the Beast. In this novel Belle finds a book, 'Nevermore' which transports her to another 'perfect' world, which turns out to not be as good as it seems, and leaves off with a sort of 'There's no Place Like Home' feeling. The story incorporates Beauty and the Beast  really well, while also making a great original story. I love how  this book adds in scenes, instead of just taking them from the plot. This is a great book, and all Disney, and Jennifer Donnelly fans will love it. 341 Pages 7/10 ABR Rating: B (for info about ABR Ratings, Plea se Visit the  About  Page)

Brisingr | Christopher Paolini

This is the third book of the Inheritance quadrilogy, and it fleshes out a lot of  backstory and character arcs, along with having some shocking and surprising secrets/twists , and a shocking ending. The story starts where Eragon and Roran are about to storm Helgrind, kill the Ra'zac, and rescue Katrina. after coming back to the Varden, while Roran is assigned on missions against the Empire, Eragon and Saphira has to do many things, such as attend the coronation of the next Dwarf king, and fixing Isidar Mithrim. This book has many twists and surprises, each one more astounding than the others, and it is done in a way that makes sense, and makes you wonder if the author really did plan it all. This is a really well written series, and always makes you want to read more. 763 Pages 9/10 ABR Rating: B (for info about ABR Ratings, Plea se Visit the  About  Page)

The Familiars | Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson

Image
This is a brilliant series, that is a perfect mix of magic and animals. All magical creatures have their own 'power' for example; Aldwyn, and cat who is both telekinetic, and telepathic. Skylar is a blue jay, who is an illusionist, and Gilbert is a Tree Frog who can see the past and future in puddles. These are the three protagonists, and they have to defeat the queens evil rabbit- Paksahara, a shape-shifter, as the familiars' owners are kidnapped. The trio encounter many obstacles such as undead animals, traitors, and curses. This is a very imaginative series, and you should read this if you like magic, as it is one of the best worlds. sadly though, they probably won't be releasing any more books, as  the last one - Palace of  Dreams was released in 2014, even though it technically said there would be more books.
